London, 16 October 2024 - Edelman, the global communications firm, has appointed Benedict Evans, a distinguished technology industry analyst, as an advisor to its global technology practice. Evans, who has over 20 years of experience analysing mobile, media, and technology, will provide strategic counsel to Edelman and its clients in the technology sector during a period of rapid change within the industry.

Evans, formerly a partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, specialises in the emerging field of AI, mobile, internet, and retail. He has a weekly newsletter of 175,000 subscribers and is a regular conference speaker and media pundit, providing context and analysis on macro trends and changes within the tech sphere. Benedict also produces an annual report, delving into recent advancements. His insights will enhance Edelman's capacity to craft impactful communication strategies, guiding clients in effectively building trust in emerging innovations.

In his advisory role, Evans will work closely with Justin Westcott, Edelman’s Global Technology Chair, who said of the hire, "In a world where the pace of change is accelerating, it's increasingly challenging to understand and anticipate the future. Having someone like Benedict Evans on our team is as close as you can get to having a GPS system for the future. His deep understanding of macro trends and technological advancements will be invaluable in helping our clients navigate the complexities of the tech landscape and build trust in emerging innovations.”

On his new advisory role, Benedict said, “It is an exciting time for the tech sector. Spurred by the advances we are seeing in AI, companies of all sizes, tech or non-tech, must ready themselves for change. More than ever, acceptance and adoption of AI and other emerging technologies hinges on effective communications and of course, Trust, which is why I’m delighted to be working with Edelman as a Special Advisor.”

The appointment of Benedict as an advisor follows the recent announcement of Margot Edelman as co-lead of Edelman’s US technology sector and Brain Buchwald as Global Chair of AI and Product, spearheading further investment in AI. These moves are part of a larger global strategy to continue Edelman’s position as an industry leader within the tech sector.
