Kyota Narimatsu

Kyota is Director, Capital Markets at Edelman Japan. With over 30 years of experience working in financial services and 20 years in corporate communication roles, Kyota provides strategic advice on corporate profile positioning, capital markets and crisis communications. 

Prior to Edelman, Kyota was Managing Director and Co-President of Finsbury Japan. Before joining Finsbury, he held several senior level communications roles including as Head of Corporate Communications at Barclays Japan,  Head of Marketing Communications for Russell investments in Japan, Korea and China, and Director of Corporate Affairs at Standard & Poor’s in Japan, where he held several roles including sales for institutional investors, communications, product development and government outreach. 

Kyota started his professional career at The Sumitomo Bank (now SMBC) predominantly in the bank’s Corporate Planning Department, where he was responsible for the financial accounting of the bank’s international and capital market businesses. 

Kyota is a graduate of Keio University with a BA Law (Politics) and has an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a special focus on strategy. From 2012 to 2018, he served as the President of the Chicago Booth Alumni Club in Japan and currently sits on its Executive Advisory Board.  

He has personally interested in HR related agenda and co-translated a book, “The Personnel Economy in Practice”, authored by Edward Lazear, Professor of Stanford Graduate School of Business and Michael Gibbs, Professor at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
